Qualifiers
- At least 1 year agency experience at the junior copywriting level
- Successfully met and exceeded expectations at the junior copywriting level, as determined by supervisors and through evaluations
- Willing and able to accept broader responsibility of the copywriter level, as determined by supervisors and through evaluations
Copywriter Requirements
Mastery of all requirements of a junior copywriter, plus:
- Display thorough understanding of marketing communications
- Exhibit a continuing desire to learn and grow as not just a writer, but as a thinker
- Exhibit a true understanding of the brand voice and become its champion
- Present work to internal team and increasingly to the client with proper attitude and energy
- Be able to balance thinking big picture and maintaining attention to detail
- Be accountable for your workload and scheduling; deliver work on time or make necessary arrangements in a sufficient amount of time
- Understand not only your client’s brand but also the competition
- Offer compelling solutions for naming assignments
- Begin to master product positioning and repositioning exercises
- Begin to be able to handle the championing of ideas within the agency
- Build off a brainstorming session with thematic names, lines, appropriate builds and thoughts during the creation of ‘white paper’ write ups
- Deliver effective and compelling ‘white paper’ write ups overall
- Be a resourceful researcher
- Articulate vision to vendors to ensure desired result
- Solicit the right information up front to ensure a better first round
- Understand and challenge strategies when necessary
- Mentor junior members of the team
- Partner effectively with other creatives and across teams
- Reach out to your art director partner(s) whenever possible to help grow a concept
